Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions in the Reiman household.

Wacky Christmas Traditions

The other night I saw on The Tonight Show that Jimmy Fallon asked people to send in their wacky Christmas Traditions. Let me tell you about a Wacky Christmas Tradition of ours.

Our first year together

We moved into our first house on Christmas Eve. It was new construction, it wasn’t quite complete, and our only source of electric was one extension cord from a neighbor we carried around the house. Needless to say, Bunny did not cook her usually excellent dinner that night. But we did find a pizzeria that was open. And we had pizza our first night in the house, Christmas Eve.

Our Second Christmas

By our second Christmas, we had our first 2 kids, the twin girls. Since we both worker retail, all we had time for was another pizza. And this is our tradition. We have pizza on Christmas Eve.

When the girls got a little older, they told us, on Christmas Eve, that we needed to leave cookies and milk out for Santa. We didn’t have any cookies in the house, so I told the girls that Santa gets cookies and milk at every single house. And that maybe as a welcome change, he might appreciate a slice of pizza.

And a beer.

So, to this day, we always leave Santa a slice of pizza.

Also a beer.

And the grandchildren always check us to ensure that we leave Santa his slice of pizza.

Also a beer.

And always, in the morning, there’s a paper plate with a few crumbs and a pizza crust by the fireplace.

Also an empty beer.

And that is our wacky Christmas Tradition. If you have one you would like to share, send it to me, Art@BunnyandArt.com
