Grow Old Together

If you are reading this post, you want to read more about how to grow old together. You’re on a web site that tells about active adult communities and the homes that are currently for sale. So I doubt that you are under 30 years old. You are probably almost 55, or older. And, since you’re here, you’re probably thinking about moving to an over 55 community. Or you may have already decided that is what you want to do, and you’re looking for a new home. Either way, welcome to our web site.

Moving to an Adult Community

First, let me tell you that Bunny and myself, Art, are in a similar age group. And as soon as we’re no longer needed for daily babysitting duties, we will be joining you in an active adult community.

So what is it that makes us want to congregate together in a community and grow old together with all of the other “old folks”?

Let’s face it. If you’re like us, you’re in a neighborhood where you raised your children, and you were surrounded by other couples around your age who were also raising their children. This gave you a common interest with the neighbors, and you probably became friends with them. And this was a big part of your social life. But like yours, their children got older and moved away. And then they moved away. And their houses are now filled with younger couples raising their children, just as you did. The problem is, they are a generation younger than you. And while you may be friendly with them, they probably won’t be friends. And soon you will just be “the old couple” who lives down the street.

The Solution

So an active adult community may just be the solution for you. The people who live in these communities are in the same situation as you. Their children are grown and have gone off to raise their own children. And while, hopefully, you remain a part of their lives and become a big part of your grandchildren’s lives, you need a life of your own. Additionally, you need a social life. You don’t want to become a hermit. And by living in an over 55 community, you’ll meet your new neighbors and grow old together. You’ll find they have similar interests to you.
