What do your interior doors look like? Are they painted? Are they the original color or are they stained wood?
If you like the look of stained wood doors, but you don’t already have them, I am aware of two ways to solve that problem.
Number one buy a new door and stain it. This can be rather pricey as a solid wood door, stain grade can easily cost over $150 each. And that does not include installation.
But if you have a painted door you can simply make it look like a stained door. I played with this project for a number of years until I finally figured out how to do it. FIrst I painted the door. I used a background color to paint the door to come close to the wood trim that I have in my house. I used a paint color very similar to a pumpkin. I’ve been used a cherry gel stain over top of it. I put the gel stain on in various slightly varying directions. This willsimulate the look of the natural wood which is seen. I painted some doors in this fashion and frankly they look better than the solid wood doors which are stained.
