Realtor Tales

My wife, Bunny, and myself are Realtors. We realized a number of years ago, long before most other Realtors, that in order to be successful, a Realtor must have a strong Internet presence.

To achieve that strong internet presence, we have had as many as 27 web sites. We currently have 13. We have worked hard and have achieved a good ranking on the search engines. Sometimes too good a ranking.

Most of our sites have pages dedicated to various communities. Some are 55 plus, others are condo / townhouse communities. Many people search for these communities. Not all are people looking to buy or sell a home. This article is about some of the calls that are not people looking to buy or sell.

We constantly get calls from people who search for a community, as an example Millponds Marlboro.

We are usually the first result. Attorneys, mortgage reps and title companies call us to request information from the association, such as rules, regulations and bylaws and all of the other things that those people need to get from the association. Many get indignant when we tell them we are not the association. I guess they can’t be bothered reading the header at the top of the page, all of which state “Barbara ‘Bunny’ and Arthur Reiman – Realtors

And then there are some mentally challenged people who call us – quite often residents of the complex. I guess after living there for a number of years, they don’t have a phone number or don’t realize it’s on their monthly statement.

Here are a few of the calls we’ve received.

Someone’s parked in my spot – do something.” (That’s all they said.  My reply was “I’m on it!”

The roof is leaking – send maintenance over here” Yes – I replied “I’m on it!”

But here’s the all time favorite. A lady called and said “you have a problem. I live at (her address). The townhouse next door had a hornet nest fall from the tree. You have to clean it up because it’s active. I know because I kicked it” What kind of an idiot sees a hornet nest on the ground and kicks it?
