About Greenbriar Woodlands

Greenbriar Woodlands is an Active Adult community in Toms River, Ocean County, NJ. Between1986 and 1998, 1,250 homes were built on 403 acres. Conveniently located, it’s  close to shopping, dining, the Garden State Parkway and of course, the Jersey Shore. 

Since Greenbriar Woodlands has a homeowners association, a monthly association fee will be assessed. Also, new homeowners are required to pay a one time fee to join the HOA.

In addition to use of the clubhouse and common areas, the fee provides for lawn care and snow removal. As a result you won’t need to do these tasks.

In addition, this is gated community.

The Homes in Greenbriar Woodlands

Most of the homes have 2 bedrooms with 2 baths, however, there are a few 3 bedroom homes with 2 master suites,. Also, the homes have either a 1 or a 2 car garage and some of the homes have a basement, while other homes have a loft. For the most part, homes are heated by natural gas forced hot air, but hot water baseboard heat was an option.

As suggested by the name, Greenbriar Woodlands offers mature landscaping with numerous trees. In fact, many of the homes back to wooded lots, while other homes offer a golf course view. In addition – pets are allowed, no more than two per household.

The Greenbriar Woodlands Clubhouse

Greenbriar Woodlands is an active adult golf community, which offers an 18 hole executive par 3 golf course. This course is available to residents and their guests only, but greens fees do apply.

Since there’s an active club house, this is where you go to socialize with your neighbors and to make new friends. When the weather is warm enjoy use of the outdoor pool, tennis and bocce courts. In addition, amenities include billiards, card rooms, meetings rooms and more. Also, numerous clubs and trips are available. Additionally, there’s a fitness center so that you can stay in shape.  

Recreation, Shopping and Dining

When it’s time to go outside this active adult golf community, you can enjoy local activities such as shopping, fishing, boating, dining in addition to much much more. Nearby you’ll find marinas which will allow you to dock your new (or perhaps your old) boat. However, if you’re looking for a golf course which offers a little more of a challenge, there are many courses in Ocean County. Also, many parks in Ocean County offer hiking and bicycling trails, or you can “Walk The Boards” in Seaside Heights or Point Pleasant.

Nearby in Brick, free concerts are offered at Windward Beach. These concerts feature top local bands as well as some big name groups. Once we saw Blood, Sweat and Tears perform there. Routes 70 and Route 37 offer a wide assortment of places to shop, or you can go to the Ocean County Mall in Toms River. Also, there’s an abundance of restaurants for you to try. For seafood, try Gregory’s Fish Market on Route 37 or the Shore Fresh Seafood Market & Restaurant in Point Pleasant.

Transportation

The Ocean County transit system, Ocean Ride, provides bus transportation throughout Ocean County. There are two major services. The first program provides local bus routes to shopping, or another active adult community. In addition, New Jersey Transit has a bus terminal just minutes away.

Major roadways are near, such as the Garden State Parkway and Routes 9, 70 and 37.

Medical Services

Nearby you’ll find Community Medical Center, which is the nearest hospital and is located on Route 37. A wide assortment of medical practices are in the immediate area. Ocean County’s Reserve-A-Ride program provides door-to-door, non-emergency medical transportation service to seniors (age 60 and over). However, you’ll need to make advance reservations and a nominal fee will be charged for this service.
