Did you know that Ocean County provides a shopping bus for 55plus community residents?
Ocean Ride
Many people who live in one of the many Ocean County over 55 communities no longer drive. And of the many who do still drive, sometimes just do not want to. In addition, many who still drive, at some point in their life, may no longer be able to. Some of these people may have family or friends who can drive them to the store for groceries. But not everyone has that option available.
Ocean County has a program that can help these folks. It’s called Ocean Ride. This is a bus transportation system. There is a set schedule for every week. For example, maybe every Tuesday it will take people to the local grocery store. On Wednesday’s, to the mall. And so on. There is no charge to use this program. And quite often the driver will bring you right to your door with your groceries. I suggest a tip to the driver as this is not part of the job description.
Ocean Ride will also take seniors (age 60 or older) to social services, other adult communities or other transportation locations.
Reserve A Ride
Ocean County provides another transportation service. This one is Reserve-A-Ride. This service charges a small fee, but it provides non emergency medical transportation. This will take seniors (again, age 60 or older) round trip to any medical facility in Ocean County. Advance reservations are required, but since you’ll know your doctor appointments in advance, this should not be an issue.
If lack of transportation is an issue which is stopping you from moving to an Ocean County adult community, this is a solution. SO, when you’re ready to begin the process of buying a new home, call us. Call Bunny and Art Reiman – The Adult Community Specialists.
