More and more often, I receive email notifications about and upcoming “National” (Fill in the blank day).
One coming soon is the National Talk Like a Pirate Day. We’re all supposed to walk around all day saying things like “YAR” and “AVAST Me Hearties” DOn’t forget to wear your eye patch to work that day.
But the problem I have with all of this is that someone, somewhere in our government, is authorizing all of this.
I did a little research ( really just a little, it took about 10 seconds to find this on Google). I found that nearly every day of the year is a Nations Something Day. Here are a few “National” Days we all missed in August:
National Watermelon Day
National Coloring Book Day
National Underwear Day ( this day is also shared with National Work Like a Dog Day)
National Wiggle Your Toes Day
National Sneak Some Zucchini Into Your Neighbor’s Porch Day
National Lazy Day
National Bowling Day
National Rum Day (I actually like this one)
National Just Because Day
And this is just what we missed in August! October has National Name Your Car Day. November we’ll probably forget about National Saxaphone Day, and December has National Sock Day!
But don’t miss this one. In early January, don’t forget to purchase cards for your family, friends and co-workers to wish them a happy National Static Electricity Day!
