This is a blog post that is not about real estate. This is about politics.
I rarely discuss politics with anyone except close friends or family. And I’m not getting into any specifics about any person or political party.
What I am talking about is something that has been bothering me for many years. And for those many years, every time I step into the voting booth, I feel the need to vote for the person that I believe will do the least amount of damage.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Regarding Presidential elections, the last time I voted for someone because I wanted that person to win was in 1976. The candidates that year were Gerry Ford and Jimmy Carter, and no – I will not say who I wanted. That is not the point of the blog post.
Soon I will step into the voting booth and cast my ballot for the next Governor of New Jersey. And to be honest, once again I do not want either major candidate to win, but I feel I will need to cast my ballot for whichever candidate I think will harm me, my family and New Jersey the least.
I once heard about a country, I don’t know which one, but I think it was a small third world country. When they held elections, there was always an extra option available to voters. And that option was “NONE OF THE ABOVE”. And their rules stated if “NONE OF THE ABOVE” garnered the most votes, the election would be held again. And nobody who was on the ballot would be allowed to run again.
Now, I cannot see where this would ever get enacted here. The people who would pass the laws would probably lose their next election to “NONE OF THE ABOVE”. But I can hope, can’t I?
How often would you vote for “NONE OF THE ABOVE”?
